Youth Art & Creativity Experience Enrichment Programme 2025

This month, UCEC launched our first Youth Art & Creativity Experience and Enrichment Programme, a pilot initiative marking an exciting new direction in the organisation’s work to bring art and education closer together. Designed for young creatives travelling from around the world (first stop – China!), the programme combined artistic exploration with cross-cultural exchange, positioning creativity not only as a skill set, but as an essential component of wellbeing and long-term educational success.

Based in Oxford, students immersed themselves in a diverse range of workshops and practical sessions delivered in partnership with The North Wall Arts Centre, alongside artists from the Oxford Art Society and long-standing collaborators within the Chichester College Group, including Chichester College, Northbrook College, and Brighton MET College.

The programme introduced participants to multiple artistic mediums: from stage combat, set design, physical theatre, and paper cinema at The North Wall, to hair and makeup artistry in CCG’s specialist facilities. Students also worked alongside professional artists from the Oxford Art Society in collage workshops and a collaborative art showcase.

This breadth of experience allowed participants to experiment, refine skills, and build confidence across disciplines. The programme encouraged creative risk-taking while reinforcing the technical foundations that underpin artistic development. Just as importantly, the exchange was reciprocal: UK artists gained insight into contemporary youth art practices from China, and it was safe to say they were deeply impressed by the talent, originality, and dedication demonstrated by the visiting students!

Throughout the programme, art was framed not as an extracurricular activity, but as a meaningful pathway for expression, resilience, and personal growth. By engaging with creative processes in a supportive environment, students explored how artistic practice can complement academic learning and contribute to overall wellbeing.

As a pilot programme, this initiative represents UCEC’s commitment to expanding educational exchange through the arts. Working with new Oxford-based partners, the programme laid the groundwork for future collaborations that celebrate youth creativity while fostering international dialogue. The experience demonstrated how art can act as a bridge, connecting cultures, supporting learning, and creating shared spaces where young people thrive.

UCEC looks forward to building on this foundation, continuing to develop programmes that unite artistic exploration with educational purpose, and bringing together young creatives from around the world in celebration of learning, expression, and cultural exchange.
