Parent–Child Co-Summer Experience Pilot Programme

Recently, UCEC welcomed a small group of families from China to take part in our first Parent–Child Co-Summer Experience Programme, a short pilot designed to give both parents and children a real, hands-on introduction to British education.

Spending just over one week in the UK, children stepped into learning environments that reflected everyday school life, including forest school activities, primary classroom experiences, and exposure to elements of the British curriculum. At the same time, parents attended talks, seminars, and curated visits focused on understanding how UK education works in practice, from teaching approaches to school culture.

The programme was intentionally designed so families could learn in parallel. Children explored through play, collaboration, and structured classroom learning, while parents gained context and insight into the philosophy behind these experiences. The result was a shared understanding of what British education looks and feels like not in theory, but in real life.

As a pilot initiative, the programme reflects UCEC’s core belief: families should experience an education system firsthand before deciding whether it is the right fit. Rather than relying on assumptions or trends, parents were encouraged to observe, ask questions, and reflect on what they saw alongside their children.

The feedback from participating families was greatly positive, highlighting how valuable it was to explore the UK education environment together. UCEC looks forward to developing future opportunities that continue to support informed, confident educational choices for families considering international pathways.
