UCEC is proud to announce that its CEO, Neil Carmichael, has been appointed Honorary Professor in Practice at the Global Business School for Health, University College London — one of the world’s leading research universities and a institution synonymous with academic excellence and real-world impact.

The appointment recognises the breadth of Neil’s experience across education, health, and public policy, and provides a prestigious platform through which that experience can directly inform teaching and research at one of the UK’s most distinguished institutions.

Neil brings to the role a portfolio of senior responsibilities that spans the education and health sectors in a way that is directly relevant to the Global Business School for Health’s mission. As Executive Chair of the Association of Dental Groups, he is at the centre of efforts to develop and sustain the UK’s dental workforce — a topic of significant and growing policy importance.

As CEO of UCEC (UK China Education Cooperation), he leads an organisation working at the intersection of international education, institutional partnership, and the kind of long-term relationship building that shapes sectors over the long term. Both roles equip him with a depth of practical insight that is invaluable in an academic setting focused on the business of health.

The appointment also renews and deepens Neil’s existing ties with UCL. His continuing association with the UCL Institute for Education — one of the world’s foremost centres for education research — means this is not a new relationship, but an evolving one, and all the richer for it.

“Absolutely delighted to receive my staff card yesterday as newly appointed Honorary Professor in Practice, Global Business School for Health, UCL. This is a fabulous honour and a brilliant opportunity to contribute to learning and research. My ongoing roles as Executive Chair of the Association of Dental Groups and Chief Executive Officer of UCEC will enable me to contribute through my experience in the field. It is also lovely to be able to continue my association with the UCL Institute for Education.”
— Neil Carmichael, UCEC
UCEC congratulates Neil on this well-deserved appointment. It is a recognition not only of his individual expertise, but of the value that comes from bringing real-world leadership experience into academic institutions — and of UCL’s commitment to ensuring its research and teaching stays connected to the sectors it serves.
