Henan University of Chinese Medicine Outstanding Students 2026 Programme

UCEC was delighted to welcome 14 outstanding undergraduate students and their lead teacher from Henan University of Chinese Medicine for a two-week immersive programme based in Oxford. Running from 27th January to 7th February 2026, the programme offered a carefully curated blend of academic lectures, cultural experiences, and hands-on visits designed to broaden horizons and deepen understanding of education, science, and medicine in the UK.

The programme opened with an introduction to the University of Oxford, before students embarked on a rich programme of academic and cultural activity.

Highlights across the two weeks included:

Introduction to the NHS — a lecture offering students a grounding in how the UK’s health system operates and is structured.
Oxford Medical Sciences Training Centre — a guided visit giving students a rare behind-the-scenes look at medical sciences in practice.
Lectures on AI in Medicine and Biomedical Engineering — delivered at Rewley House and Begbroke Science Park respectively, connecting students’ backgrounds in Chinese medicine with cutting-edge developments in UK medical research.
Exchange with local students — a facilitated session bringing Chinese and UK students together to share perspectives and build cross-cultural understanding.
Day trips to Cambridge and London — including visits to King’s College Cambridge, the Old Operating Theatre, and the British Museum.
Cotswold Day Tour — offering students a glimpse of quintessential English countryside and heritage.

 

The programme closed on 6th February with a formal closing ceremony, before students departed for Zhengzhou on 7th February. It was a fitting conclusion to a programme that took them from the dreaming spires of Oxford to the streets of London and the meadows of the Cotswolds — and, academically, from the foundations of the NHS to the frontiers of AI in medicine.

UCEC was proud to host this cohort of outstanding students as part of its ongoing partnership with Henan University of Chinese Medicine and its broader commitment to building meaningful, lasting connections between UK and Chinese education institutions.

UCEC continues to deliver great study tours for students from China. I lectured on public health policy to a superb group from the Henan University of Chinese Medicine – I recently had the pleasure of visiting the University. I am looking forward to celebrating Chinese New Year with the students on Monday.
